5 Tips For People Who Live In Small Spaces And Want To Feel More Comfortable

Young people might be going through one of the toughest times they have ever faced. If you’re one of them you will know what I’m talking about. You hear all these stories about older people who left college and bought their first house. They probably found their perfect job too, but our housing and employment markets are a complete disaster. For the people who have left college in the last few years it doesn’t seem like your life is going to be easy.

One of the biggest sacrifices people are making is the place they choose (or are forced) to live. Going home and staying with their parents is not an option, or at least not until they are about to be put out on the street. Maybe you have your own little studio apartment, or you might even be renting a room with other friends. You don’t have huge amounts of space and you might feel terrible because of where you live, but hopefully these cool tips will keep you sane until you can afford somewhere better.

Get a Comfortable Mattress

I don’t care if you have a little single bed or a large queen-size bed, but you need to have a comfortable mattress because if you don’t feel great when you go to bed at night you will feel terrible in the morning. Nothing beats waking up with a huge smile on your face because you’ve had a great sleep. You don’t even need to buy a new bed because a mattress will do the job. Don’t buy one online because you need to test it out first to decide if it’s right for you.

Hang Speakers From the Wall

Music makes the world go round and it can turn your frown upside down in a few seconds. When you’re feeling low you can lie on your new mattress and turn the music up to make yourself instantly feel better. When young people listen to music these days it’s either with headphones or on little portable speakers. You will feel a lot better and enjoy the music a lot more if you have proper speakers that are hung from each corner of the room.

Do you Love Coffee?

If you love drinking coffee in the morning it’s a good idea to get your own machine so you can drink as much as you want without spending all your life savings in Starbucks every morning. Can you imagine walking out of the shower and your coffee is already sitting waiting for you? That is what happens when you buy a nice machine. If you want to stick to instant dried that is fine, but just remember that the little joys are what makes the day a much happier one.

Get a Proper Desk

When you live in a compact space it’s very easy to lie on your bed when you are using your laptop. Sooner or later you forget how to type when sitting down and it doesn’t really help your posture. Neither does sitting, but at least you can stand up and move about. It will make you feel a lot better if you have a proper desk to sit at. It is even better getting a comfortable chair to top it off because you won’t be tempted back to bed by your mattress.

Make it Feel More Spacious

Do you know of any techniques to make your room feel bigger than it already is? All you are really doing is trying to trick your subconscious into thinking it’s bigger. Even though it’s not, you will still feel a lot better. The easiest way to do it is by adding more light to the room. Especially natural light so don’t bother closing your curtains until the sun goes down. You can also add a mirror, but only one otherwise your room will look like a gym.
